Our last group work day for our "6th year" will be Tuesday, October 23rd, 9:00am –11:00am. It's never too late to join other volunteers from area parishes to help maintain their beautiful grounds and plant and harvest fresh vegetables in their 21 raised beds. These vegetables are enjoyed by the women and children who are living at LifeHouse. This month we will finish up clearing out brush, preparing the vegetable beds for winter, and cutting back peonies and day-lilies. Have you ever felt called to visit hospitalized patients and bring the Eucharist to Catholic patients? The Pastoral Services Department at Mercy Hospital is currently recruiting committed active Catholic lay persons to be Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the sick. Training, mentoring and support will be provided. This commitment would require about two hours of your time each visit to Mercy Hospital. August Work Day—LifeHouse

Our August work day will be Thursday, August 23rd, 8:30am–10:30am. We will be weeding and harvesting vegetables from the 21 raised beds that the residents of LifeHouse enjoy as well as general grounds maintenance. We will continue to scrape paint from the back grotto in preparation for painting in September, and moving mulch where it is needed. May was once again a busy month. We assisted 60 families consisting of 108 adults and 54 children. Several members of St Vincent de Paul headed to the Veterans Center to help feed the homeless on Wednesday, May 16th. We are scheduled to work breakfast again on Wednesday June 20th, 8:00am. I encourage anyone wanting to help to come join us. We will not have our monthly meetings during the summer, but will pick back up on September 10th and hit the floor running. At that time we will begin preparing for our Thanksgiving “Adopt-a-Turkey” program scheduled for November, and also begin plans to assist those in need ...

Fr. Chaz has received an assignment from Bishop Rice that will be effective July 5, 2018. He will be an Associate Pastor with Fr. J at the parishes of St. Peter’s in Joplin and St. Ann’s in Carthage. We have been blessed with Fr. Chaz’s ministry among us for the past two years. We will have an opportunity to show our appreciation to Fr. Chaz on the weekend of June 24th.
