Blessing of the Animals Ceremony and Mini Festival

We will be hosting a “Blessing of the Animals” ceremony and mini festival.  The public is invited.  All creatures great and small are welcome!  The ceremony will be on Sunday, October 6, 2019, at 12:30 pm.  We will gather outside in front of the Immaculate Conception School, 3555 South Fremont, Springfield, Missouri (or under Church portico if it rains.)

Each pet will receive a Certificate of Blessing and a St. Francis Holy card.  Following the blessing there will be; $0.25 hotdogs and drinks, a dog trick show, swag bags, puppy cookies and local rescue dogs up for adoption!

We will be presenting the K9s for Camo organization with a Certificate of Recognition for their work rescuing dogs and training them as service dogs for veterans.  Please join us in honoring this wonderful organization!  If you are a veteran, please attend wearing something that indicates you were in the military, to show your support for K9s for Camo.

All animals must be on leash or suitably restrained.  If you prefer, your pet may be blessed while in your car (let a volunteer know where you are parked).  In case of bad weather, stay in your car and you will be directed to line up for individual blessings under the church awning.  Those pets unable to attend may be represented by a photo.   Children without pets are encouraged to bring their teddy bears or other stuffed animal toys.

We will be collecting unopened bags and cans of dog food for local animal rescues and shelters.   Clean towels and blankets (in any condition) are also needed.  These items may also be dropped off at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, just inside the outer doors and to the right.
