Parish Council of Catholic Women
The Parish Council of Catholic Women (PCCW) is a service organization of Immaculate Conception Parish. There is no application to join, nor dues to pay, so all women of the parish are “automatically” members! Meetings are usually held the second Tuesday of the month, September through May. Times and meeting details are listed in the bulletin. Activities and speaker topics vary with each meeting, and there is always time to socialize.
The major event undertaken by PCCW is the Holiday Sale in November. Funds raised allow for support of the parish and wider community in many ways. For example, improvements to the parish plant, donations to diocesan organizations as well as local community charities, are all accomplished because of the participation of members at this annual event.
PCCW, once known as the Altar Society, has existed in parishes across the country for many years. The National Council of Catholic Women was chartered in 1920, and groups began adopting the new name then and following Vatican II.
All women of the parish are invited and encouraged to participate in whatever ways they feel called. Come to meetings when you can. Come help with the Holiday Sale when you can. Maybe make a dish for a funeral dinner. Women working together make parish life that much more vibrant!
